FIND
YOUR
HAPPY

In a world where cost of living is at an all time high and the overall number of people reporting mental health problems having risen in recent years, I wanted to explore how people are living, if they are ‘LIVING’ at all?

What are people’s reasons for changing or not changing their life, do financial constraints or moral values play a part?
What influences people to stay within the safety of their ‘box’ OR step outside of the box and explore something new?
Do the pressures of society contribute to the mental health crisis?

The Project

Find Your Happy
In this project the questions above are what I posed to the public, by holding a open questionnaire I received some eye opening responses. I
Out of all the responses, I focused on four very different individuals and explored their careers, values, hobbies and motivations in more detail.
In this project I have combined, digital images with double exposure techniques manipulated in photoshop and Ai. Working with each individual and incorporating their thoughts and views into each piece.
Ai is an ideal in this ever-advancing world, it was a great tool for me to use, to present images I could not otherwise capture to tell the story I needed to tell.
I feel Ai also represents the society values we currently live amongst, that the perfection we are often presented with is not always reality.
Living in a digital world is fantastic and while I enjoy experimenting with different techniques and processes, whether that be in a digital or an analogue format, I often fear having the technology to create at the touch of a button, will make us loose the joy of substance. Having a tangible piece of work to hold and admire, can bring a sense of nostalgia or invoke feelings and emotions a digital image otherwise can not.

I hope this project helps people realise what is important to them, make the most of every opportunity they have, and most importantly, Find their Happy.
