This project was initially and entry for an Eizo Competition. There were various themes to choose from. I chose to adapt the theme 'Identity' into Metamorphosis. 

I used self-portraiture to convey the transitions we make as humans. The 'butterflies' concept gives this project a colourful edge but this theme represents human life. We constantly change and evolve throughout our lives, not only in age, whether we realise it or not.

In a world where society are only recently becoming comfortable with the common fact mental health is a massive issue for many, I wanted to show that there is 'Light at the end of the tunnel'. We all encounter various trials and tribulations throughout our lives and it is possible to transition through that time and rebirth a new version of you, scars and all. It's about accepting our inevitable past, present and future.

These images represent different phases, some are calm and tranquil and others not so much, but we can all come through the transition and each part of the process becomes part of our identity in some way.
